Rumba Deliveries...

Coffs to Sydney August 2013...

Unfortunately the Sydney to Southport race this year suffered very light conditions. As a result many of the smaller yachts (Rumba included) retired due to "time constraints". So our delivery start was altered from the Gold Coast to Coffs. John and I enjoyed the varied conditions which ranged from no wind to gusts of 35kts in Stockton Bight but arrived safely back at MHYC in 2 days. Thank you John for your tremendous help crewing.

Pt Stephens to Sydney April 2014...

After a great Easter regatta, again John and I brought her safely back to MHYC

Mooloolaba to Sydney December 2015...

First time for Rumba atHammo race week. Unfortunately problems meant the crew had to leave her at Kepple Bay for repairs and Kerry got as far as Mooloolaba before needing my assistance for the remainder of the delivery. Great sailing with you Kerry - till next time.

Hamilton Is to Sydney August 2019...

The mighty Rumba team again headed north to enjoy Hamilton Is Race Week. Well worth it this time with great sailing and a nice collection of glassware with a second overall.

A great delivery home with ideal conditions, and Jeff (the original builder) and Ray assisting. First stop Keppel Bay for fuel and supplies then outside Fraser with very gentle conditions. We had an electrical short which meant no instruments or auto pilot. Despite all usual checks with my multi meter, I found there were numerous devices all running off the one circuit. Speaking to the owner, the instruments had all been renewed not so long ago so he didn't want me pulling it all apart. Eventually got it sorted and functioning properly.  Our next little stop was in Coffs Harbour to pick up Alex who is a  Coffs Harbour aviation fireman who contacted me looking to build sea miles. Alex was a great addition to the crew and we sailed into Sydney 2 days later  in the evening ready to clean the yacht and hand back over to the owners.

Hammilton Is to Sydney August 2022

After a couple of 'mis-fires' due to cancellation of race week with covid, finally the mighty Rumba and crew got to join in this wonderful event once again. Initially I put the old team of myself, Ray and Jeff back together but unfortunately losing the prop off Hervey Bay marina meant Ray had to jump ship as his beloved and flight to London awaited. So after having the new prop fitted, Jeff and I continued on to Coffs where Jeff needed to depart to get back to work and long standing friend Peter and new recruit Jay jumped on for the final 2 days to Sydney
