Doing final preparations for this iconic “pocket Maxi” which was George Snow’s first Brindabella and the delivery to it’s new home in Melbourne was a delight. The yacht is a bit tired and its new owner has a lot of ideas and energy to bring her back to become a beautiful fast cruiser around Port Phillip Bay. We had a very fast slay ride to reach Eden in under 24 hours with a triple reefed main and #5 headsail in 15-20knts of wind. Waiting in Eden for a front to pass, we left 24 hours later and had the most delightful, gentle sail across the strait and up to Melbourne as the pictures depict. Some engine troubles which initially we patched but eventually baffled us meant an escort across the Rip around midnight on Saturday night by the coast guard and although it was very nice to have them there, in the end we made it through under our own sail power. Many thanks to those volunteers and also my crew (Michael, Nick and Blair) who did a great job to get her there in great condition.
