A last minute call from owner Christian after his regular skipper had medical issues meant I had the pleasure of delivering this state of the art luxury 62ft catamaran back home after it had competed in Hamilton Is race week.  Together with Saxby (my crew) we worked our way south and reached Bundaberg on the third morning. As we had missed our tidal opportunity to sail the inside passage of Fraser, we decided to have a stopover in Bundy and leave at 0400 the next morning. A perfect day and correct timing of the tide meant a fast run to Wide Bay and an easy crossing of the bar that afternoon. We then headed out and managed to find 4 knots of current in 24 degree water about 20 miles out. So fast running with a NE breeze of 15-20 saw speeds averaging 10kts with a half unfurled genoa. Three more days and we were tied up at D’alboro’s at Cabarita Bay.
