'Blackjack' Fairline Squadron 78 Sydney to Perth June 2016

June 2016...

Another trip across the bight this time into the breeze! Along with crew mate Blair the trip took 16 days which included a couple of days waiting for a weather window in Pt Lincoln and a "pit stop" in Esperence to remove the rear platform (which had partially broken) and the RIB. Unfortunately the brackets for the platform were under engineered for sea conditions with the weight of the rib and caused both arms to partially tear away even though we used additional support via a rope which was around the back of the platform and tensioned up. Apart from that, Blackjack performed beautifully and was a pleasure to deliver. Thanks goes to Blair for his great effort in crewing with me and to owner Michael for his appreciation and encouragement along the way.
