‘Scarlett’ Benateau Oceanis 351 Airlie Beach to Brisbane November 2018

So Murray and I cleaned up Evening Breeze and transferred our gear to Scarlett. A very enjoyable meal at La Tabella then early start 0500 to catch the favourable tide.

A couple of issues, reasonably new Raymarine wheel pilot had gearbox failure and intermittent engine near failures due to partial blockage of the fuel line. All sorted and after just a short stop at Urungan to buy appropriate filters we arrived Brisbane after 4 days and 6 hours.

Inside Fraser was prudent with massive storm cells and unbelievably, with dark clouds, a rapidly falling barometer lightening and thunder, we managed to escape without a drop of rain, managing to stay between two massive cells the whole way down, see the radar picture above. By the time we reached Wide Bay Bar, conditions had settled for a reasonably standard crossing ( just 2 breaking waves over the deck!)
