Our Story

Special Delivery is a service provided for travellers, by travellers. It’s an idea that came to us just prior to our last lengthy overseas journey. We’d travelled lots before but always seemed to have a problem receiving mail on time and where we wanted it.

We wanted a system where we could control our mail, no matter where in the world we were travelling. So we paid a friend to collect our mail, and using the Internet’s power of instant communication, we were able to receive notification of our mail, pay our bills on time and pick and choose which items to be forwarded to us.

It’s a good thing too, because just before our trip ended, my wife encountered some unforeseen medical complications that needed immediate treatment. This meant that our return home was delayed by 4 months! Imagine if we had left outstanding bills for that long; we could have arrived home with our water, electricity and phone cut off and our credit rating down the drain! (BTW, I’m happy to report that my wife has made a complete recovery!)

On our return to Australia, I started to investigate a mail forwarding service on the Internet. It looks like I wasn’t the first to have the idea, but no-one seemed to be offering the service of using the Internet to sort, deliver and read mail. The result: the mail forwarding service of Special Delivery was born.
